I made a thing… (for DaVinci Resolve Studio)

Vacation time is… Hobby time, I guess? So I’ve indulged a bit in my other hobby again.

Introducing Lens Debaser OFX – Debase perfectly good optics in post.

A highly experimental OFX plugin for DaVinci Resolve Studio Apple Silicon (Metal) only for now, mimicking vintage optics kinks. At least that’s the idea…

In 2026 „cine“ image acquisition is solved & commodified. Like Undone said, all cameras are good now. Above, graded iPhone 17 Pro 4K Open Gate Apple log2 RAW with a ghetto 1.55x anamorphic lens. As most cameras and optics are too good now, too sterile, too sharp, too character-less – I‘m using my Lens Debaser to put some interesting-ness and character back into the image; Here, MTF, sharpness falling off at the edges in an elliptical anamorphic pattern and some chromatic aberration applied the same way. The flare is from the optics itself.

Still BETA. Unsigned. Some non-kosher command line action still required to make this work for now.
